How do you find the best dentist in Los Angeles?
Matthew and his fiancé read articles about cosmetic dentists in Los Angeles and looked at their websites. Both of them saw the "before and after" photos of many of the Los Angeles dentists' work. Based on the "before and after" photos and credentials of all of the dentists, they found that the Santa Monica dentist (not far from Los Angeles) was the most impressive cosmetic dentist. He called for a consultation and both he and his fiancé went together to hear the possible levels of cosmetic dentistry.
Mathew's Story
Mathew was interested in porcelain veneers to brighten and revitalize his smile (just in time for his wedding). His teeth were short but he did not understand that it was because of years of clenching and grinding. Even at his young age, the years of tooth wear were shortening his face and making him appear older. Usually, this amount of facial shortening doesn't occur until a patient is 50 years or older but for Mathew, facial shortening came early in life. The porcelain veneers were non-invasive, so he did not any shots or drilling on his natural teeth. Non-invasive porcelain veneers preserve and protect the natural tooth structure. Beyond Cosmetic Dentistry
Traditional cosmetic dentistry concentrates on the smile. However, people only smile about 5% of the time. There is much more to a mouth than visible smile. The cosmetic dentist may place porcelain veneers and make the teeth whiter, wider or longer (longer teeth will only deepen an existing overbite). The length of teeth must be carefully determined because it is critical for the longevity of the veneers. If there is a deep overbite, the porcelain veneers are more likely to pop off. Cosmetic dentistry can benefit the visible portion of the smile, but for those of us who want the best level of health, function, and esthetics, there is a level which goes beyond cosmetic dentistry.
