EXTREME MAKEOVER

An Extreme Dental Makeover is an excellent option for patients with complex dental needs. Missing teeth, crooked teeth, a bad bite and TMJ problems all compound the complexity of extreme makeovers. Besides improving your looks and self-esteem, extreme makeover dentistry needs to be comfortable, functional, and long lasting. From a dental engineering prospective, it makes a difference how the complex dentistry is completed. Poor dental engineering in extreme makeover dentistry will yield results that do not last (i.e.: restorations continually fall or break off). This treatment option definitely requires a multi-talented dentist who is highly skilled in all areas of dentistry. Some of the best-trained dentists in the world belong to the Academy of General Dentistry, which awards the highest honor (Master of the Academy of General Dentists) to a select number of dentists.
Perfect Smiles
Every patient has his or her own vision of a "perfect smile". Perfect smiles can be accomplished with treatment to one or two teeth or treatment to every tooth in the patient's mouth. The patient below greatly benefited from treatment to only two teeth! His perfect smile has added to his self-confidence and helped him move on to TV, commercials and magazines. His cosmetic dentistry was both conservative and non-invasive, yet greatly improved and balanced the appearance of his smile. Not every dentist can offer great looking results. A dentist who has great artistic talent and years of experience in general and cosmetic dentistry can craft a "perfect smile" that suits just about any patient. The proof of a cosmetic dentist’s skills are in the "before and after photos" of dynamic cosmetic dental care (including smile makeovers, extreme makeovers, bite reconstructions and especially the ultimate level of care, Face Lift Dentistry ®).

The size of his teeth were irregular, the lenghts uneven and his smile
could use more balance. After treatment the sizes of his teeth are
balanced, the shapes are harmonized and his overall smile is enhanced.
Gummy Smiles and the Extreme Makeover
Heidi had ten upper and four lower teeth all treated in only three weeks. She wanted a wider smile and bold looking teeth to compliment her striking facial features. The existing crown on one of her front teeth had to be replaced and Dr. Muslin was able to blend it in perfectly with the porcelain veneers. In addition to changing the shade of her teeth, Heidi wanted to change the shape of them because she did not like how much gum showed when she smiled. Dr. Muslin completed the gum surgery, porcelain crowns and porcelain veneer preparation in only one visit and in less than three weeks the custom porcelain veneers were bonded to complete all of the treatment. Heidi was able to see the porcelain veneers on her teeth before they were bonded. She gave her approval based on actually seeing the porcelain veneers inside her mouth. Sometimes patients think they want a super white shade or straight looking teeth but they really never know until they see the results inside our mouth.

Stained Teeth
Stained teeth can be unattractive and a huge discouragement to our self-confidence. Luckily, stained teeth can usually be improved with teeth whitening or teeth bleaching. Oftentimes, teeth whitening can be combined with minor dental bonding and/or esthetic tooth reshaping for an inexpensive and impressive cosmetic result. Many of our patients have previously been told that porcelain veneers are the only choice to remove staining and improve a smile, even though great results could have been obtained less expensively and less invasively. Whether the patient decides on dental bonding or the longer lasting porcelain veneers, the goal of treatment is non-invasive dentistry to preserve the natural tooth structure.

Tetracycline Stain
This patient has tetracycline stain and existing veneers that had become very dark. She wanted whiter teeth for a natural looking smile, but knew that bleaching her teeth would not remove the tetracycline stain. Non-invasive porcelain veneers were a perfect solution to hide her tetracycline stain and change the shape of her teeth. She now has a beautiful smile without grinding down her natural teeth.
